Environment Canterbury (ECAN)

Vote in late 2018 in favour of the Canterbury Regional Council (Ngai Tahu Representation Bill) 2019. The Bill would have allowed Ngai Tahu to appoint two representatives with voting rights to full Council. This would be a profound breach of democracy. The Bill was opposed by National, New Zealand First and ACT and voted down in April 2019.

No break-down of the vote is available, however, no Councillor spoke out against the Bill.
